![]() I don't want to start overclocking yet, till I get to the bottom of this. The PC runs incredibly cool, with temperatures never exceeding 57C for any core under any of stress tests, way lower normally. I've replicated this a few times, sometimes it will take a little longer, but generally fails pretty quick. None of them failed other than the cache stability test. So by process of elimination I ran each of the tests separately. To my surprise, when the system stability test for the first time, before i had even touched overclock settings, it failed almost immediately! The system does not hang or crash or beep, AIDA just returns this message and stops the test: In preparation for overclocking, I installed AIDA64, so I could stability test after overclocking. More details about this processor you can find on the i5. The Intel Core i5-4690K comes with 6MB of last level cache, and it fits into 88 Watt thermal envelope. This feature can temporary 'overclock' the cores to 3.9 GHz. The microprocessor has Turbo technology enabled. The 100 MHz bump translates to an insignificant 2.9 performance increase. The two chips share identical architecture in fact the only difference between them is a 100 MHz bump to both the base and turbo clocks. ![]() Please contact OEM for the BIOS that includes the latest Processor configuration update. Comparing the 4690K and 4670K shows that little has changed. Some products can support AES New Instructions with a Processor Configuration update, in particular, i7-2630QM/i7-2635QM, i7-2670QM/i7-2675QM, i5-2430M/i5-2435M, i5-2410M/i5-2415M. I recently installed a water cooling system and upgraded bios, and have been using the PC at stock clock settings for everything, with no real issues. Intel Core i5-4690K is a quad-core processor with 3.5 GHz base frequency. The Intel Core i5-4690K is the latest incremental upgrade to Intel's unlocked mid-range quad core family of processors. Goals for this build: Fit a gaming build into the NZXT Phantom 240 Stick to the 1200 budget Work in a Dallas Cowboys theme (Texas residents). I've been using it with no real issues, other than a few ssd BSOD issues which I fixed with a bios and firmware update, running perfectly at the moment.
